In short
- There are no accounts, no adverts and no cookies.
- Your watches, accuracy readings, maintenance records and settings are stored only in your own browser. They are never sent to us.
- Like any website, the site's host receives basic technical information when your browser requests a page.
- We count visits anonymously with Vercel Web Analytics, which uses no cookies. You can opt out.
Who runs this site
Set Your Watch UK is an independent website owned and operated by Hamza, an individual, who is responsible for the personal information described in this policy. It was created and developed under the name HK Creative Web, Hamza's creator brand; HK Creative Web is not a registered company or a separate legal entity. Information kept only on your device
These features save information in your browser's local storage on this device. It is not sent to us or anyone else, and we cannot see, recover or delete it for you.
- My Watches: the watches you add (for example brand, model, reference, serial number, purchase date and price, case size, notes), your accuracy readings and your maintenance records and reminders.
- Preferences: Day or Night theme, the homepage watch face, World Clock cities and layout, the 12- or 24-hour format (shared with the Time Converter), and whether you have objected to visit statistics. These are saved only when you change a setting, and you can ask the site to forget them.
- Offline copies:if your browser supports it, a service worker keeps the site's files and copies of up to 40 pages you have viewed, so the site can work offline. These pages contain no personal information.
The full list, with how long each item lasts, is on the Cookies and storagepage. Clearing this site's data in your browser removes all of it, including your watch collection, so export a backup first if you want to keep it.
Exports, imports and calendar files
Export in My Watches creates a JSON file on your device from your browser's data. Import reads a JSON file you choose; it is checked and loaded in your browser and is not uploaded. Daily reminder files (.ics) are also generated in your browser. Exported files can include details such as serial numbers and prices, so keep them somewhere safe.
Information sent to services that run the site
- Hosting (Vercel Inc.).The site is hosted by Vercel. As with any website, each request your browser makes reaches Vercel's servers with technical information such as your IP address, browser type and the address of the page requested. Vercel uses this to deliver the site and keep it secure. See Vercel's privacy policy.
- Visit statistics (Vercel Web Analytics).Vercel provides this service on our behalf. When a page is viewed, Vercel's script, served from this site, sends the page address and route, referring site, time and script version to Vercel, which derives approximate location, browser, operating system and device type from the request. The script sets no cookies; it reads one local storage item (
__va_attribution) that this site never creates. Vercel states that it identifies visits with a hash of the request that is discarded after 24 hours, that visits cannot be linked across days or websites, and that page views are not tied to an IP address. We see only aggregated totals. You can object on the Cookies and storage page; the script is then not loaded at all, and it is also switched off if your browser sends a Global Privacy Control signal. See Vercel Web Analytics privacy and compliance. - Time synchronisation.Your browser asks our server for the time. Our server, not your browser, contacts the National Physical Laboratory's public time servers; nothing about you is passed to NPL. See How NPL time works.
- Weather. Your browser asks our server for the weather in London or the World Clock cities you have chosen. Our server requests forecasts from Open-Meteousing only the cities' fixed coordinates. Your IP address and location are not sent to Open-Meteo.
- Email. The contact form opens your own email app; nothing is submitted through the website. If you send a message, we receive your email address and whatever you write, through your email provider, and use it only to read and reply to you.
Links to other websites, such as manufacturers' manual pages, take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Why we use this information
Under UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), we rely on our legitimate interests in running a secure, working website, understanding which pages are useful, and replying to people who contact us. We do not sell information, show adverts, build profiles or make automated decisions about you.
Vercel is based in the United States, so hosting and analytics information may be processed outside the UK under the safeguards Vercel describes in its own policy.
How long information is kept
- On your device: until you delete it or clear this site's data. We never hold a copy.
- Hosting logs and visit statistics: kept by Vercel for the periods set out in its own policies. We see only aggregated visit totals, not individual visitors.
- Emails you send: kept only as long as needed to deal with your message and any follow-up, then deleted.
Your rights and choices
- Information on your device is under your control: edit or delete it in My Watches, or clear this site's data in your browser.
- You can opt out of visit counting at any time on the Cookies and storage page.
- Under UK data protection law you have rights to access, correct and delete personal information we hold (such as emails you send us), to restrict its use, and to object to uses based on our legitimate interests. Use the email button under Who runs this site to make a request. Because visit statistics are aggregated and we cannot identify you from them, we may not be able to link a request to that data; opting out stops further counting.
- If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
If the site's data practices change, this page will be updated and the date at the top revised. See also the Terms of Use.
