Terms of Use
The terms for using Set Your Watch UK, a free and independent toolkit for watch enthusiasts. Please read them before using the site.
Last updated: 17 October 2026
1. Who we are and accepting these terms
Set Your Watch UK (setyourwatch.co.uk) is owned and operated by Hamza, an individual. The website was created and developed under the name HK Creative Web, which is Hamza's creator brand. HK Creative Web is not a registered company or a separate legal entity. In these terms, “we”, “us” and “our” mean Hamza as the owner and operator of the site.
By using the site you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use it. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
2. Permitted use
Set Your Watch UK provides live UK time, watch guides and tools free of charge. You may browse, read and use the site, and save or print pages, for your own ordinary, lawful, personal and non-commercial use. This permission is personal and limited. It does not transfer any ownership of, or licence to, the site's content, design or code, except as these terms expressly state.
3. Copyright and intellectual property
Unless stated otherwise, the original material on this site is owned by Hamza, to the extent that Hamza owns the relevant rights and the material is protected by law. This includes:
- original written guides, descriptions and educational content;
- original illustrations, watch faces, diagrams, graphics, icons and other visual assets;
- the original website design, branding and interface elements;
- source code, scripts, software and original technical implementations; and
- original compilations and arrangements of content, and other original creative work.
This is subject to the rights of others: some material, software components, names and marks belong to third parties or are used under licence, and their own terms apply. The fact that the site is free and publicly accessible does not give permission to reproduce, adapt or commercially exploit protected material.
4. Unauthorised copying and commercial use
Unless you have Hamza's prior express written permission, or another legal basis such as a statutory exception (section 5) or an applicable licence, you must not:
- reproduce or republish the site's protected content, in whole or in substantial part;
- copy, extract, distribute, sell or relicense protected source code or original software implementations;
- reproduce protected designs, branding, graphics or interface elements to create an imitation or competing product;
- repackage protected content or implementations into commercial websites, apps, templates, subscriptions or other paid products;
- present the site's original work as your own or someone else's, or otherwise pass it off; or
- remove, obscure or alter copyright, ownership or attribution notices.
Any commercial exploitation of material owned or controlled by Hamza requires prior express written permission, unless the law or an applicable licence allows it. Permission must be obtained before any use, and covers only the use and scope expressly authorised in writing. To ask, please get in touch using the button at the end of these terms.
5. Fair dealing, ideas and third-party rights
These terms do not stop you doing anything that UK law permits regardless of them. That includes the statutory copyright exceptions, such as fair dealing for the purposes of criticism, review, quotation, news reporting, private study or non-commercial research, where the legal conditions for each exception, including sufficient acknowledgement where required, are met.
We do not claim ownership of general watchmaking knowledge, facts, mathematical concepts, timekeeping principles, ideas or methods merely because they are explained on this site. We respect third-party copyright, open-source licences and other rights; open-source software used by the site remains subject to its own licence terms.
6. Website misuse
You must not:
- attempt to gain unauthorised access to the site, its servers or the services behind it;
- deliberately disrupt, overload or impair the site, for example with malicious code;
- make abusive automated or bulk requests, including to the site's time or weather endpoints, or use them to power another service;
- circumvent or interfere with reasonable security or rate-limiting controls; or
- use the site for any unlawful, fraudulent or harmful purpose.
Ordinary browsing, search-engine indexing, assistive and accessibility tools, and other legitimate, lawful activity are welcome.
7. Watch guidance and safety
The guides, diagrams, simulators and tools give general information about common watch types. They are not professional repair advice, and they do not guarantee that a method is suitable for your particular watch: crowns, date mechanisms, movements and water-resistance arrangements vary between brands and models.
Setting, winding, opening, adjusting or servicing a watch carries risk, including damage to the movement or case, loss of water resistance, and invalidating a manufacturer's warranty. You do so at your own risk. If you are unsure, consult the manufacturer or a qualified watchmaker.
8. The NPL time reference
The live time comes from the National Physical Laboratory's public Network Time Protocol service, referenced to UTC(NPL). Our server obtains the time from NPL; your browser then obtains it from our server, estimates the network delay and runs the clock locally, re-checking periodically. See How NPL time works.
- Network delays, your device, browser and screen all affect what you see. The site shows an estimated uncertainty, which is an estimate, not a guarantee.
- The NPL service or our server may occasionally be unavailable. When synchronisation fails, the site says so and shows your device's own clock, which may be inaccurate, and retries automatically.
- Set Your Watch UK is a helpful setting reference. It is not a certified timekeeping instrument, and we do not guarantee traceability to UTC(NPL) or any other standard. Do not rely on it where certified or exact time matters, such as for legal, financial, safety-critical or navigation purposes.
9. Tools, estimates and third-party data
The site's tools are aids, not authoritative sources. Their outputs may be estimates, may become outdated, and may occasionally be inaccurate or unavailable.
- Accuracy calculator and tracker: results are estimates based on the readings you enter. They depend on how carefully readings are taken, and real watches vary with position, temperature, wear and power reserve. They are not a certified rate test.
- World clock, time converter and daylight saving: local times and clock changes are worked out by your browser from published time-zone data. Governments change their rules, sometimes at short notice, and a device with out-of-date time-zone data may show the wrong local time.
- Sunrise, sunset, daylight and moon phase: calculated from astronomical formulas for a reference location. They are approximations and can differ from official tables and from what you see locally.
- Weather: forecasts are supplied by a third party (Open-Meteo), may be wrong and may not be available.
- Simulations, winding tools, maintenance suggestions and reminders: practice watches, simulators and diagrams are simplified illustrations, not models of your watch. Maintenance suggestions and reminders are general prompts; service intervals vary.
Check anything important against an authoritative source, such as an official time or government source, and against your watch manufacturer's instructions.
10. Saved data, privacy and cookies
Your watch records, accuracy logs, maintenance information and preferences are stored locally in your browser on your device, not on our servers. There are no accounts, so we cannot back up, recover or transfer them. They can be lost if you clear site data, use private browsing, change device or browser, or your browser removes stored data, so use Export in My Watches to keep a backup. Keeping that information and any exported files safe is your responsibility.
The site sets no cookies. It counts visits anonymously using Vercel Web Analytics, which you can switch off. How information is handled, and exactly what is stored on your device, is explained in the Privacy Policy and the Cookies and storage page.
11. Third-party resources and trademarks
Third-party manuals, websites, services, data, trademarks, logos and other materials referred to or linked from this site remain the property of their respective owners and are subject to their own terms. Links are provided for convenience; we do not control those resources and are not responsible for their content, accuracy or availability.
Set Your Watch UK is independent. Unless expressly stated, it is not affiliated with, sponsored or endorsed by any watch manufacturer or retailer, or by the National Physical Laboratory or any data provider. Brand names are used only to identify products and manuals.
12. Availability and liability
The site is free to use. We take reasonable care to keep it accurate and available, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted availability, error-free operation, or the accuracy or completeness of every result, and features may change or be withdrawn.
The site is provided for personal, non-commercial use, so we are not responsible for business losses, such as loss of profit, revenue, contracts or business opportunity. Subject to the paragraph below, we are not responsible for loss or damage that was not reasonably foreseeable, or that results from your own decisions or actions, including setting, opening, adjusting or servicing a watch, or relying on an output that sections 8 and 9 explain should be checked.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded or limited, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud or fraudulent misrepresentation. Nothing affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including any rights you have under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
13. Changes, governing law and contact
We may update these terms from time to time, for example to reflect changes to the site or the law. The “last updated” date at the top shows the current version, and the version in force when you use the site applies. These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, subject to any mandatory legal protections that apply to you. The courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction, except that if you are a consumer living in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in your local courts.
